Education that is inclusive

The CLC Network is committed to provide Christ-centered education that includes all students. Students who face a wide range of educational challenges are included in CLC Network member schools. Working in cooperation with CLC Network school staff, the CLC Network staff provides personalized educational programs for those students.

Students who have significant disabilities are integrated into the full life of the faith-based school and its surrounding community. CLC Network inclusion specialists identify and create appropriate learning opportunities designed to develop each student's gifts and abilities. Based on parental goal-setting, specialists carefully plan instruction with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and with families to ensure that educational, social, and spiritual goals for each child are realized. Educational programs use both the general and special education setting to accomplish identified goals.

CLC Network resource specialists collaborate with families and with general education colleagues to provide personalized learning experiences for students who have more frequently identified, mild educational challenges. Specialists arrange personalized programs and methods that prepare students to acquire the skills necessary to meet the demands of school and the confidence to become independent learners.

CLC Network talent specialists serve as consultants to CLC Network school staff and to families for students who have particularly strong academic ability. The specialists provide connection with community-wide programs for academically talented students, including acting as a clearing-house for programs and extra-curricular events pertaining to academically talented students. The specialists also assist school staff and families to plan personalized programs for these students.

The CLC Network employs a partial inclusion philosophy in its educational programs. This means typically that students will be served both in general education classrooms and in special instructional settings. Within the CLC Network, all students are viewed first as members of the school in which they are enrolled and the general education classroom to which they are assigned. The CLC specialist serves to support the student by working in the classroom and by providing instruction in a small group, or one-to-one setting, outside the classroom as needed.
