Special Needs Smart Pages by Joni and Friends (Barbara J. Newman is a major contributing author) Published by Gospel Light, Ventura, CA 2009

This book is packed with resources for churches seeking to include children with disabilities.  Each page is dedicated to a different topic such as describing different disability areas or suggesting materials, forms, or processes to use for inclusion.  Topics range from tips for leading worship with children who have disabilities to understanding how to communicate with someone who is non-verbal to supporting grandparents of those with special needs.  This is definitely a goldmine of ideas and can be purchased from CLC Network.

The following two books are excellent resources as you introduce peers to those with a disability. The first title is appropriate for children and the second title is appropriate for high school students and adults.

“What a blessing your time with us was last week! Thank you so much for making the trip across the state to share with those who attended our conference. It was great to see you again, and I was so glad I had the opportunity to hear your workshop presentation as well as your time with the whole group. Your joy and enthusiasm coupled with your intimate knowledge of the subject matter was a gift as you shared things that are obviously close to your heart.”
