The Need…The Challenge…The Goal

“This book is dedicated to innocent children whose stifled struggles
to succeed have been misinterpreted.”

Forward to Educational Care, Melvin Levine, M.D.

“…innocent children”…”stifled struggle”…”misinterpreted”

Powerful words generate powerful images.

Yet words cannot capture the toll taken on “...innocent children...”
and their families.

For the student… a toll of deficient skills, of falling behind….and realizing it; the toll of under-producing in words or writing what you know you know;  the toll of studying, preparing, rehearsing…and yet failing; the toll of inconsistent test grades, forgetting to remember important “stuff” like books, assignments, due dates; the gradual onset of confusion and frustration of doing well in the early years of school and now not; the toll of emerging self-prosecution, the overt  (“I’m stupid”) or hidden from view; the toll of disappointing those that love you and want the best for you….yet whose counsel fails to stem the tide; the toll of noticing adult anxiety, frustration, confusion without clarity of understanding and direction ("Why do my parents ask ME 'Why?' Aren’t the adults supposed to know?").

For the parent(s)… For a mom or dad, the toll of confusion and concern, or perhaps a poignant reminder or painful re-living of their own school days; the toll of “school” leaking beyond the boundaries of the school day…school week…school year and infiltrating the family life, family relationships; the toll of caring parent(s) unintentionally communicating that their acceptance of their son or daughter is linked to the child’s success in school, test grades, homework management (”How did this happen?”).

The challenge, opportunity and goals are incredibly clear.
For CLC Network Evaluation Services staff, it’s the challenge to carefully guide the process of thoroughly understanding a student’s strengths and struggles. It is a commitment to enlisting people with the goal of accurately understanding and interpreting “…innocent children’s stifled struggles to succeed”… and guiding the process and planning for student success.

"It is such a blessing to work with the other CLC Network staff members, seeking God's will is clearly the focus of what we do.  I can see the hands and feet of God blessing families and students in West Michigan and beyond.  I am so thankful to be a part of the CLC Network."
